Magnificat Houses

A Place to Call Home

About Us

Magnificat Houses, Inc. is a faith based, nonprofit, charitable organization chartered by the State of Texas in 1968. The Federal tax exemption status is 501(c)(3).

There is no time limit for those who come to live at Magnificat Houses. Some residents will never leave. Others will secure employment and move on. Some will choose to remain with us, assist with our work and live our lifestyle.

We serve primarily the homeless and the chronically mentally ill. We have several residential facilities. Men, women, families and single parents with children are welcome. Special needs are provided for in our AIDS hostel; Morning Star House. All men and women  in need are welcomed.

“Street people” are served lunch six days a week at the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen located at 2009 Congress Street in the Downtown area.

We, the staff of Magnificat House, are dedicated to both physically and socially helping people who are in need. We carefully listen to find expressions of their needs and devise ways to be of help to them. We do our best to enable men and women in need to discover their gifts and their inner worth, to help restore them to society as contributors rather than being dependent on the charity of others.

Arrangements are made for any who wish to get off “the street” and enter one of our houses.
